The problem: This home office was overflowing with clutter. The desk was not being utilized other than a catch-all. In fact the owner was using their dining room table for their computer/printer/bill paying area. The file cabinet had not been used for a number of years because the dog kennel was placed in front of it, thus paper work had found other resting places throughout the house.
The fix: After sorting and clearing the space the desk was repositioned on the opposite wall. This did two things 1) it got rid of the sun glare from the window, a problem the client had complained of, and 2) it allowed for shelving to be placed above the desk. The shelving was utilized both to keep the desk top clear of clutter and as display area for the client's pottery. Setting up a new filing system, and clearly labeling organizational items such as baskets and drawers for all household transactions completed the transformation.
The problem: This finished basement needed to be used for a home office, children's homework/play area, and a craft space. Before only one work surface was available, an old fashioned wooden desk, but with all the computer equipment on the surface there was no area left for a work space.
The fix: Implementing sturdy and in-expensive shelving and a L-shaped floating desk system added extensive desk top work space. Because the desk supports are mounted to the wall, the area below can be fully utilized for filing cabinets and rolling storage drawers. The transformation allows for two children to do homework while an adult can work next to them. There is plenty of room for rolling craft/toy carts which can be tucked away when not in use.
The problem: This client had a huge amount of software text books that he used. They were being housed in two large book cases and a smaller cart, many being double stacked. The area felt cramped and messy.
The fix: Implementing sturdy and in-expensive shelving above the desk fully utilized the wall space which previously had been wasted. Desk clutter was eliminated by moving piles of magazines to labeled magazine files located on the new shelves, and adding a 'current' file holder so each active project has its own labeled folder.
The fix: Implementing sturdy and in-expensive shelving along this wall greatly increases storage and also adds a spacious unifying feel. Inexpensive labeled photo boxes used on the top shelf are a great way to store maps, extra computer cables, or any other ascetically challenged items. This room feels like ten more square feet have been added.
The problem: The large bookcases are really to big for the space making it feel top heavy and cramped. The location of the file cabinet chops the space up even more, making it appear even smaller.

The problem: The office supplies stacked on this book shelf are hard to find, difficult to get to and look messy.
The fix: Utilizing an unused file drawer the supplies are now stored vertically such that all items are visible and easy to retrieve. No more clutter!
