The problem: This home office was overflowing with clutter. The desk was not being utilized other than a catch-all. In fact the owner was using their dining room table for their computer/printer/bill paying area. The file cabinet had not been used for a number of years because the dog kennel was placed in front of it, thus paper work had found other resting places throughout the house.
The fix: After sorting and clearing the space the desk was repositioned on the opposite wall. This did two things 1) it got rid of the sun glare from the window, a problem the client had complained of, and 2) it allowed for shelving to be placed above the desk. The shelving was utilized both to keep the desk top clear of clutter and as display area for the client's pottery. Setting up a new filing system, and clearly labeling organizational items such as baskets and drawers for all household transactions completed the transformation.
The problem: This client had a huge amount of software text books that he used. They were being housed in two large book cases and a smaller cart, many being double
stacked. The area felt cramped and messy.
The fix: Implementing sturdy and in-expensive shelving above the desk fully utilized the wall space which previously had been wasted. Replacing the existing over size book shelves with wall mounted shelving streamlined the whole room while adding much more shelf space.
Desk clutter was eliminated by moving piles of magazines to labeled magazine files located on the new shelves, and adding a 'current' file holder so each active project has its own labeled folder.
Inexpensive labeled photo boxes used on the top shelf are a great way to store maps, extra computer cables, or any other ascetically challenged items. This room feels like ten more square feet have been added.
The Problem: This client was just overwhelmed. Paperwork had started to accumulate and then it began to snowball into a unmanageable situation.
The Fix: The first part of this job entailed a "clean sweep". Sorting, categorizing, and clearing the paper work gave the office a fresh start. Implementing organizational systems plus additional shelving units gave the client processes to use to keep the 'paper tiger' at bay.
The Problem: This office was very cluttered and unprofessional looking.
The Fix: Replacing the mismatched desks with wall mounted office components gave this office a professional streamline look and great functionality.
The Problem: This original built in shelving was starting to sag and the clients wanted to use this area for an additional work space.
The Fix: Adding sturdy wall mounted desk top and shelving was a simple fix.
