The Problem: This child's room was overwhelmed with to much clutter. Many toys/books that had been outgrown years ago were still taking up valuable space and the desk top was unavailable for working on.
The Fix: Sorting out the toys and books that were no longer used made a huge difference in floor space. Switching the position of the desk and bookcase made better use of the area. Making a 'treasure' bin and then placing important nick knacks in this container instead of on display on ever flat surface really opened up the room. Additional labeled bins for electronics, cards, coins, and other items help not only to contain the clutter, but help the child keep his room clean.
The Problem: This guest room wasn't inviting. Too much clutter piled on every available surface.
The Fix: Clearing the room of unnecessary items and repositioning the bed changes the whole feel of the room. Shelves were added for vertical storage and display. Inexpensive bed risers were used to raise the bed. This makes the bed the focal point and allows for underbed storage drawers. The client's extra throw pillows really make the day bed inviting.
The Problem: This put together dresser took up a lot of room with out providing much storage. The depth of the drawers were a good 5 inches shorter then the dresser depth!?! The clothing that was stored there easily fit in under the bed storage drawers. This guest room also doubled as where the client's adorable basset hound sleeps. Much of the dresser clutter is due to doggy treats.
The Fix: By getting rid of the dresser it opened up this whole wall for shelving and easy access to the dog's kennel. Using attractive storage jars for dog treats looks much more appealing than the original bags and also lets you know when you are getting low.
